Gator Five Diamond Model by Vision Skateboards 1988Gator Deck given to me by Mark Anthony Rogowski (Gator)Original Gator Deck from Vision Skateboards from Mark Anthony Rogowski, Autographed flier from Gator, and Chris Miller, Swatch Impact Tour Flyer, newspaper article from 1991, and Black Swatch Impact Tour decal. You are bidding on an original Gator Five Diamond (V-5 Concave) Skateboard Deck. This deck was given to me by Mark Anthony Rogowski on October 20,1988. The Swatch Impact Tour was one of the first major sponsored skateboard and bicycle tours back in 1988. The Swatch Impact Tour came to Las Vegas, Nevada on October 21,1988. Two of the riders of the Swatch Impact Tour came to the local Las Vegas Skateboard shop Thrills On Wheels. Pro Skaters Mark “Gator” Anthony, Chris Miller, Jeff Phillips, Kevin Staab, Joe Johnson, and Jimi Scott with a few others were on the Swatch Impact Tour. Larry (Shop owner) from Thrills On Wheels managed to get Gator and Chris Miller to sign autographs on October 20,1988 at the shop. A handful of friends and I went to the shop to get autographs. Gator drew me a picture on top of giving me an autograph, and Chris Miller signed the flier also. I was super stoked to say the least. So as the autograph session ended, there were only a few skaters left at the shop. Gator and Chris Miller went to leave the shop, and we all followed them out to a white van. Gator and Chris Miller were giving out shirts and stickers after they got to the van. Gator went to the back of the van, and pulled out the Gator deck you see before you. Gator came out of the van, and handed me the deck! I’m not sure why, but I think that he noticed that I did not get a shirt or stickers. Needless to say, I had a pack of skaters try to take the board. My best friend Mike at the time, blocked some greedy hands, and I ran for my life with my newly acquired skateboard deck. I have been asked over the last 29 years why it wasn’t autographed, and that is the reason why. They left within minutes of me getting the board, while they left in the white van, and I had taken off through the parking lot, so I wouldn’t get it taken away. The deck was then placed at home, and has been in the closet/under a bed since 1988. The board was occasionally pulled out to show people over the years. I was one of his biggest fans, and he was one of the very first pro skaters I had ever met. The deck is old school, non-grip taped, never mounted, never ridden, and near mint condition. The marks on the nose were there when Gator gave it to me, because it looks like it was most likely thrown into the back of the van when they came to Vegas. There are light scratches on the board from years of storage in closets and under beds. This deck was always stored inside in a bedroom, and never been exposed to any elements.CONCERNS: Years ago looking up the information on this deck revealed some information on the Art of Skateboarding standards website. If your look on the Art of Skateboarding website it shows the Gator Five Model Deck. The board they have on their website shows 1989, and there is a letter V at the rear truck holes of the deck. On the top of my Gator deck it states “1988 Vision Sports Inc”, and there is no V at the rear truck holes. Could this be one of the first prototypes that Gator received from the factory right before the Swatch Impact Tour? Was the deck a team rider/ pro model separate from ones sold in stores later? I am not able to answer any of those questions. I was going to have this deck professionally mounted with all the items that I have received years ago, but did not want to ruin anything. I will get a notarized letter to the buyer of this deck to insure it’s full authenticity. If you are located in the Southern California area, and the bidding goes above the initial bid price, I am willing to drive from Las Vegas to bring this deck in person. If you are a Pro Skater or Skateboard Company, I am also willing to come to your office/ headquarters located in Southern California. This item can be shipped in the United States only, and will have high insurance on the items. I do not want this item left on a doorstep by a delivery service only to be stolen. I want this piece of skateboarding history to go to a good home. The reserve price is high due to the rarity of this skateboard, the person who gave it to me is incarcerated, age of the deck, and condition. Please serious bidders only. CONCERNS AS OF 05/25/2017:This Gator deck has been listed a few times and has cost me $48.00 each time I list it.THIS IS NOT A REISSUE DECK. Is this warped, twisted? I have been skating since 1985, and if this deck was in a shop, I would buy it, and ride it. I was the kid at the skate shop that used to look at every deck prior to buying it to see if it was warped or twisted. This Gator deck has funky concave near the nose, but remember this was 1988 skateboard technology. ARE YOU BUYING THIS TO SKATE IT? I hope not. This board should be professionally displayed with the items it comes with and maybe along with other items that you have from Gator ( movie, poster, decals, ad’s, etc). Some people only want the deck, and not the other stuff? The items that come with the board are basically verifying that the board is original, and everything is correct. Anyone can just say they got a board from Gator, and scam someone out of their money. I AM WRITING THE PURCHASER A NOTARIZED LETTER! This ensures that the person that purchases the board will have the complete story to include the names of the persons that I know personally who were at the shop with me, who have seen this board over the years. Also, I have photographs of the Gator deck next to Rob Mertz Zorlac deck from back in the day. Too many people have attempted to scam me out of this board over the last 6 months. I will not put my reputation on the line to make a quick dollar, and/or get myself in legal trouble (Lawsuit) selling a skateboard deck. THIS WILL BE THE LAST TIME THIS DECK IS LISTED! After this 10 day listing, the board will go back into its dark place, and I will just list it in another 5 to 10 years down the road. I have had it the last 29 years, what’s a couple more?SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY! I don’t want your guns, don’t want your comic book collection, don’t want your car, don’t want your skate collection of decks, so please just don’t send those messages. I hope this part of skateboarding history goes to a good home. Why am I selling it? It has been sitting for 29 years, and it is time this part of skateboard history gets displayed, or shown.
