Coleman Quick Lite Model 220 Slant Double Mantle Lantern. "Sunshine of the Night"The Coleman Model 220 series of lanterns were produced from 1928 until 1983. According to the International Coleman Collectors Club book, Guide to Vintage Coleman Products 1900 to 1983, the original model 220 was Coleman's first instant lighting model. The first model 220 is also known as a "slant" due to the way the valve is mounted in the fount and the generator actually slants up to the burner assembly. The slant lantern in this auction was made in September of 1928. For being 89 years old, it is in pretty good condition. The lantern has very little rust on vent (see pictures) The fount nickel plating is in great condition with a few dents (see pictures). I have cleaned and polished this lantern pretty much inside and out as you can see from the pictures. The globe is an original Pyrex replacement glass globe. Everything on this seems to be original. I do not know what organization used this in the past but the BFA stamped on the bottom adds some character to the lantern. This lantern has not been tested. Although, it does pump up and hold pressure. When the valve wheel is opened, the generator is passing air, so we do not see any reason the lanterns shouldn't work. However, it is being sold as is.Please feel free to email me with any questions.
