Permanent show grounds The main toilet unit features a liquid separator so as to not allow liquids and solids to mix during uses. This is what keeps odours down and the unit working properly. Inside the main seat section there is a 25 litre solids collector that can be emptied by removing the top of the seat unit. The liquids are channeled away from the solids container by pipework and as standard the unit is configured to allow the liquids to soak away in the surrounding ground. However the unit can be configured to uses a urine collector on the exterior, should soak away not be possible in the chosen location. If you require this extra option, please contact us first. Once the solids container is full, it can be emptied into a composting bin and over time the contents of the bin will turn into useful composting material known as Humanure. This happens as during use, sawdust is used before and after someone uses the toilet for solids. A handful of sawdust, goes into the solids container before use and then another after. The sawdust helps to break down the waste and helps in the composting process. Our unit is constructed from 18mm Plywood and the design of the construction means there are very few screws. Most of the supporting parts slot together for added strength. The roof of the toilet is made from pressure treated larch and keeps out all weather, but allows for good ventilation. There is a frosted acrylic window in both from door and the back wall and each unit has a hinged door with an inner bolt for privacy. The main plywood comes untreated allowing you to apply your own weather proofing to the outside. A good waterproof seal and top coat will see your unit last many years. The roof ridge is made from folded aluminium. Each toilet come fully constructed and ships nationwide. Shipping costs are for mainland UK and exclude Scottish Highlands. The bottom of the unit has a purpose built pallet section to allow the unit to be lifted and moved by any standard fork lift truck. The actual toilet seat unit we uses help with ventilation and can be removed for cleaning at selected intervals. We think this is the most original and well designed compost toilet currently available in the UK and it’s unique construction and good looks make us perfect for any location.
