It's already proven to be invaluable when the power went out overnight during a PG&E event caused by a rain and wind storm in San Francisco last week, when about 10,000 of our neighbors lost power overnight. We had the Yeti on reserve to run wifi, phones and a laptop. Pros: Ready when you need it Cons: A bit heavy at 29 lbs Best Uses: Backup power, camping, remote area portable power. Charles Larimore nd I would recommend this item to a friend. Yeti 400 generator July 15, 2016 Have not it it to work yet came charged ready to use Marella Louisiana I would recommend this item to a friend. Awesome Generator October 21, 2015 This generator is awesome. I ran a 12" oscillating fan for 7 hours and it only used 20% of battery capacity. Ran my 29" LED Flat screen TV on it with no problem. Using this to recharge cellphone, tablets and phones. LED light strips work well on this. Will come in handy when electricity is out. Pros: Light weight and easy to move around. Have ability to attach multiple devices at one time. Barry Richards Eureka California I would recommend this item to a friend. Goal Zero Yeti 400 Solar Generator August 1, 2013 Love it Pros: everything 3 Questions | 3 Answers Q. Sherry from Idaho asked: I am thinking about this for camping. Would this let me hook up a coffee maker and run it? Small appliances for cooking or a hair dryer? How does a person figure out what type of appliance would work with this product. I'm sorry, I know this question probably sounds ridiculous but I was curious. I am also a photographer with studio lighting that (I believe) is short bursts 400 to 800 watts could I use it for this purpose as well? A. Customer Service: This unit provides 396 Watt Hours and has an inverter maximum output of 300 watts continuous. So first off anything over 300 watts of running watts will not work with this unit and if you actually plugged in something that drew around 300 watts it would draw the batteries down in about an hour or so. Coffee makers and hair dryers draw a lot of power and are typically not a good fit with solar.. they seem like small appliances but can draw anywhere from 1000-1200 watts. Answer this Question Q. Don from Lacey, WA asked: Will the yeti 400 run a 1.0 amp 120v ac chest freezer, and for how long A. Customer Service: The Yeti 400 would run the Freezer Chest for around 8 hours, however you would be draining the battery down to empty, which we do not recommend. Typically you do not want to draw the battery down past half, so it would run the Freezer Chest for around 4 hours with best practices. A better fit for your application would be the Yeti 1250. If you have any questions pertaining to the Yeti 1250 please feel free to ask. Thank you Answer this Question Q. Don from Lacey, WA asked: Can the generator be charged with the panels at the same time it is being used to run an appliance(small AC fridge) A. Customer Service: Yes, the generator's battery bank would be recharged as it was being used, which would make the unit function more effectively and keep your battery bank full for a longer period of time. Based on the item mentioned, you may get a few hours of operation from the Yeti 400. However, the Yeti 1250 has 3 times the battery capacity and may be a better option.
