Museum Quality English Provenance Oliver Cromwell Oil Painting After he painting of Oliver Cromwell by Robert Walker. Inscribed in pencil on stretcher and frame. We are in the process downsizing and selling off paintings that we have acquired over the years. Up for sale is a museum quality oil painting of Oliver Cromwell. We had purchased this painting to go with other English art that we had acquired and it crowded the other paintings. The original owner had acquired the painting from Pembroke Antiques in Williamsburg Virginia and had the original labels and purchase price ($3500). The Pembroke Antique label states that it is late 1700s but others have stated that it could possible be early 1800s but we are comfortable to suggest that it is certainly within this period. The painting measure 17 1/2 X 14 inches. With the frame, it is 18 X 21 inches. The painting is in excellent condition. The frame in good condition but believe it is the original frame. Additionally, it is believed that the frame is carved and not gesso. From wikipedia: Oliver Cromwell (25 April 1599 – 3 September 1658)was an English and leader and later of the . Cromwell also led a campaign against the Scottish army between 1650 and 1651. On 20 April 1653 he dismissed the Rump Parliament by force, setting up a short-lived nominated assembly known as , before being invited by his fellow leaders to rule as of England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland from 16 December 1653.
