Wetterlings Bushman Axe by Les Stroud - this one is impressive!
Sometimes it's really hard to find just the right axe that you're looking for. Well, look no further, here it is. If you're like me who doesn't mind paying a little more to get what he really wants, this axe is for you. You will receive the exact Bushman Axe by Les Stroud that you see in the photos along with a full-grain leather sheath.  The handle on this Bushman Axe is made from genuine hickory. The grain is long and parallel with a beautiful 'Candle Flame' pattern on the Wetterlings logo side of the handle. This Axe is truly impressive!
What is the Bushman Axe?  The Bushman Axe was developed and tested by Wetterlings together with "The Survivorman" Les Stroud of Canada. This axe is multi-functional, intended to be useful in many different situations in the wilderness. Keep the Bushman in your backpack and you're ready to handle most situations. Apart from felling and limbing smaller trees, the Bushman Axe is also handy for chopping firewood due to its slightly broader and wedge-shaped head.
Bushman Axe "truth and myth":  Some customers have asked about the Bushman Axe by Les Stroud that are “2nd Generation” with the steel wedge.  The fact is that the steel wedge was used during the early production of the Bushman Axe but as production techniques improved they were taken out and are no longer in use. To clarify this miss-information here is a direct quote from the manager of Wetterlings in Sweden: It has never been a what you call ”2nd Generation”. This is a misunderstanding from uninformed folks on the net. It is too easy to distribute strange rumors. During the last years we do not have steel wedges on hatchets and small axes like the Bushman Axe.” Manufacturer: Wetterlings axes are forged in Storvik, Sweden using Swedish Carbon especially alloyed steel. The special axe steel alloy makes high quality hardening possible. Each axe is hand forged using hammer press machines that deliver many blows making the axe edges stronger than if they were drop forged. After grinding, hardening and tempering, Wetterlings axes keep a Rockwell hardness of HRC 57-58. This is why Wetterlings axes hold a sharp or keen edge longer than most other axes.Handles:  The handles are made and lathed from American Hickory. American Hickory has the best stress capacity and resistance to blows making it the wood of choice for good axe handles.Specifications:Blade: Carbon steelBlade hardness: HRC 57-58Handle: American HickorySheath: full-grain leatherWeight: 32.064 oz..
