Frontier Stove, wood burning stove The Frontier Stove is a portable log burner originally designed for use in the humanitarian aid world. From humble beginnings, this little stove developed a cult following due to its clever engineering and robust design, and has been heating up the camping world ever since!SpecificationSPECIFICATIONOverall Height :- 2410mm Overall Length :- 835mm Overall Width :- 550mm Flue Diameter :- 60mm Flue Length :- 410mm (x5) Firebox Door :- 155mm Internal Opening :- 140mm Weight :- 12kgThe Frontier Stove StoryAround one third of the world’s population still cook on solid fuel, and the health problems that arise from breathing in toxic fumes from open fires is a very real problem. We designed the Frontier Stove to remedy this problem. It has a long flue, which transports harmful fumes away from those cooking on the stove, and the increased efficiency means that less fuel is needed. The Frontier has been sent out to disaster zones all over the world, and has stood up to years of rigorous testing in the field. We are so proud of this little stove and all it has accomplished.A portable woodburning stoveThe Frontier Stove was designed with portability in mind: the sturdy legs easily fold down, and the flue can be dismantled and stored inside the belly of the stove. The total weight of the stove and flues is an easy 10kg, and there’s even a convenient carry handle on its side so you can grab it and go!We’ve also designed a carry bag for the Frontier, available here [LINK]. If you’ve got the Frontier Stove Water Heater, the carry bags for the two clip together into one easily portable unit.Tents, vans, sheds, boats and yurts…The Frontier Stove’s long flue means it can be easily installed in all sorts of fire-retardant shelters. It’ll keep you warm inside your tent, meaning you can stay toasting camping all year round, and you can cook on it too.All you need to install the Frontier Stove is either a Frontier Stove Tent Flashing Kit, or the Frontier Stove Shed Flashing Kit.MaintenanceOn our Frontier Stove we chose to use a 60mm diameter flue so that after use the flues can be stored inside the stove for convenience. This cunning design feature means you never lose anything and your Frontier is always packed ready for the next adventure. As with all our stoves we recommend only burning well-seasoned, dry timber as this will give you the most efficiency and greatest heat output. If you do find yourself burning green unseasoned timber and you are finding it difficult to keep the stove operating (for example running poorly and producing little heat) you may experience some restriction in draw as your flue starts to build up an internal layer of ash. This is a common pitfall when first experimenting with solid fuel cooking, so we have designed a flue brush specifically for the Frontier’s smaller flue to help you keep your flue clean and improve your experience with this great little stove. The technical stuff! With its contained firebox, the Frontier Stove is 10 times more efficient than an open fire. This means that you need less fuel for the same heat output and cooking temperatures. It’s also good news for the environment: burning less fuel means a huge reduction in harmful emissions that can damage the ozone. Our unique Controlled Open Flame Technology (C.O.F.T.) means that you can harness the power of your fuel and channel it into cooking a meal! You can choose to either cook on the hot plate for a more measured heat, or remove the top plate and cook directly on the flames.
