The Scandinavian Forest Axe is a more professional axe for those who want to limb a felled tree in the traditional Scandinavian way. The axe is forged to a thin, curved bit and sharpened to make it suitable for cutting branches in fresh, resinous wood, spruce or pine. The long handle gives extra strength and more power for cutting. The Scandinavian Forest Axe will be delivered to you with a hickory handle and a full-grain leather sheath. You will also receive the Gränsfors Bruk Axe book.The Handle: The handle on Gränsfors Bruk axes was designed by Hans Erik Persson. Gränsfors Bruk handles is made from hickory. Hickory is the perfect wood because it is both strong and flexible. Hickory wood has long, parallel fibres which increases the life of the handle. To further improve the quality of each handle, it is soaked in hot linseed oil then treated with beeswax to make it more resistant to dirt and water. Smiths: Gränsfors Bruk Axes are forged by very skilled smiths. The proof of this skill is that each smith can forge an axe with such precision that no post-processing is needed. This is what distinguishes Gränsfors Axes from other industrially manufactured axes. Each Gränsfors Bruk Axe has the initials of the master smith who actually forged it stamped on the axe head to proudly highlight the excellence behind the workmanship.
