Description
Skull and Sword Powell Peralta 7 Ply Collectable! "Cosmic Red" Edition! 1987-88 (Not Bonite)Not until the late summer of 1988 did Powell finally admit defeat and return to an all maple 7-ply construction. (Well, they offered both models at first, but no one really wanted anything to do with Boneite ever again.) With the introduction of these boards came a new spoon-nose concave, new shapes on McGill, Guerrero and Mountain (the Vallely deck would soon follow), and a new two-color top logo, the "Winged Ripper," in red, blue or metallic gold. Note: there are two versions of the "Winged Ripper," one with the initials "XT" and the other "7P". Two new deck colors were also introduced at this time, lime green and yellow, as well as a new shape and ant background for the "Bug" team/generic deck. The mysterious "Butterfly" team/generic deck that appears on a Powell Peralta product poster from this time period was never produced, but prototypes do indeed exist (incidentally, this was not a VCJ graphic, but a Chris Buchinsky design).
This makes this deck a 1988 right after the "Boneite" Experiment. I left Original on purpose so condition is "As Is" see pics! Grip tape must have taken some kid a long time! Very Unique, one of a kind Roman Numeral date can be seen and read. The front reads VIII the Bottom reads VII I'm thinking one of the "I"'s got rubbed off, who knows? Still ad's to Authenticity Condition is Nice with sum rubs and peels because of age. (See Pics) A few hairline stress cracks here and there, normal for age..." Center Graphics are Awesome what's most Important for Collecting The tail still maintains its shape with a couple of wood chunks missing so deck has seen some action I guess. The nose is missing a small sliver or "wood peel." (Underneath) Deck has been drilled for "hand rails" and has "tail bone" as seen in pics There is some "Sticky Residue" were the trucks mount. I think the "riser pads" must have left it I'm sure it can be removed if desired. I don't want to compromise original paint myself Anyone who's seen my board agree on it's sweetness and skateboarding history Could be a great gift idea! Fast/Free/Insured Shipping! Will Pack With Care:) "Global Shipping to Most Places!"
