Offered is this Rare circa 1938 Wagner Manufacturing Co. Cast Aluminum, Collapsible Picnic Grill, Catalog Number 1000 and its Original User Instruction Sheet. A good reference for this can be found on page 108 of Smith and Wafford's, THE BOOK OF WAGNER & GRISWOLD, copyright 2001 (Red Book). This is a 12 1/4 inch square cast aluminum grill with folding cast aluminum legs that are permanently attached by rivets. You unfold the legs and a galvanized steel tray slides down and secures the legs in place. It weighs 4 pounds 12.2 ounces. The top of the grill is marked with impressed cast lettering :THE WAGNER WARE (stylized logo) SIDNEY -O- PICNICER PAT PEND. The Instruction Sheet is an 8 3/8 by 10 7/8 inch sheet of yellow paper, printed in black and red ink on one side.
Condition : The grill is in used condition with a 1/4 inch wobble, when sat on a flat surface. The top of its galvanized steel tray and the underside of the aluminum grill top has minor uncleaned carbon, from use. There are no broken, cracked or missing pieces and no rust. The instruction sheet is moderately soiled and has tears with taped repairs. It has been laminated between two pieces of protective plastic. Twelve highly detailed photos have been posted for further assesment.
