This is a Stiles and Welch Cutting Horse bit. It is marked with S/W inside each cheek piece. These bits were developed by Buster Welch and Joe Stiles of the King Ranch and became one of the most widely copied patterns of all time. This is an original King Ranch era bit. They are fairly rare and hard to find. It has polished aluminum cheeks and copper mullen mouth. There are a few marks on the mouth and scratches on the cheek pieces from use. When laid on flat table one ring sits about a 1/16” off the table. This would be a nice bit to use or to add to a collection.Measurements: Cheek Pieces 8 ¾”, Mouth 5 ⅛”, Mouth Diameter ½”, Weight 9.7 ounces
