Description
Stunning Edwardian era Gentleman's Traveling kit intended for Equestrian travels. I believe the case is by Peal & Co, as it came out of a trunk marked by that maker and includes marked Peal & Co. boot cuffs. Includes:
Two sterling silver items by A & J Zimmerman of Birmingham, England, date marked 1911, one being a shaving brush and the other a cylindrical container. Two cut glass bottles with silver lids hallmarked TJW, London, 1903. Includes a knife/ corkscrew by George Wostenholm. Scissors marked "Cavendish Butler Sheffield. Soap dish and long brush case marked "Yates / Crown." Long brush marked "Kent / Ebony." Brush marked "France Iveryora sterilized" Bone tongue scraper. Two leather riding boot cuffs, each marked "Peal & Co", stainless steel boot guides and a stainless boot horn. There is also an interesting corkscrew that is one piece, but comes apart to make a T-shape (photoed as 1 piece). Also a file with ebony handle. Rare to find a complete kit like this in this good of condition. This is coming out of a Peal & Co trunk that belonged to a very wealthy Far Hills, NJ/NYC family around the turn of the century. The bottles are engraved "McI", yet it descended in the family of a 19th century Boot maker firm based in NYC. As a fine riding boot maker, they had the finest in leather goods. Condition: Excellent. Appears this case was rarely ever used. Museum quality. Has a wonderful smell of leather when opend up.Measurements:
4" H x 11" W x 8 1/4" D
Sterling Brush when put together is 6"
Glass bottles just over 3-1/2"H
