TOMB RAIDER: REBORN (2013) & RISE OF THE TOMB RAIDER (2015)BACKGROUNDI, like many of you who were brought to this page, have been a Die-Hard Tomb Raider fan ever since the first game's release on PlayStation way back when. When the Reboot was announced, I could barely contain my excitement leading up to the release. For all the years we waited between Tomb Raider: Underworld and Tomb Raider: Reborn, I for one was completely smitten by the new and improved adventures of Lara Croft. I loved every second of game play. And, being the huge fan that I was, I knew I had to get my hands on Lara's signature melee weapon in the game, her red climbing axe. So, I went to the usual Tomb Raider forums I would frequent and saw there were others who were also in the process of identifying the exact make and model of the axe (as well as every other part of the new Lara's gear). Not long after the game's release, someone had tracked it down. It was none other than the DMM Rebel Ice Axe (Adze), hand-forged in the U.K. and made with the utmost care and precision. I checked my bank account and knew I would have to sell a few things if I was to have the money to afford the axe (once I saw what it was retailing for). And sell some things I did!It finally came time to locate a retailer and purchase my soon-to-be prized possession. The only problem was, everywhere I looked (and I do mean EVERYWHERE) they were sold out!After WEEKS of on-again/off-again searching, I finally came across a gear outlet in Colorado who claimed to have ONE LEFT. I placed the order and breathed a deep sigh of collector's relief.A few days later I received a call from the company, just wanting to verify that it was the Axe (Adze) I wanted by DMM and not the Ice Hammer. I clarified that it was indeed the Rebel Ice Axe (Adze) that I wanted. When I thanked them for their service and explained why I wa sso relieved to have gotten the item in question, he proceeded to ask me if I was with "that video game company". I asked what he meant. He said "some gaming company ordered up our entire stock, the one you got was one we had buried behind all the Ice Hammers. Looks like it's your lucky day!".I couldn't have agreed more.A few weeks later the Ice Axe arrived, and it was such a sight to behold. I loved it so much! I debated for MONTHS whether I should put it to use on my own climbing and hiking adventures or if I should keep it packed away as a true collector's item. Fortunately for anyone who is reading this right now, I did not remove it from it's packaging. I held it ONE TIME, put it back in the box and sealed it up until today when I took these pictures. Which brings us to the present...FOR SALEIf you are reading this page right now, it means that you know what you are looking at. This is a real, functioning DMM Rebel Ice Axe (Adze), used for mountain climbing, and the same model the game designers based Lara Croft's climbing axe off of. I have recently fallen on hard times financially and have been forced to begin selling off what memorabilia I have of any worth. With this item in particular, however, I do not actually want to sell it. On the contrary. Over the years I have noticed that you can almost never find one anywhere else for sale. And if you DO find one, after reading this page and thinking, "There HAS to be one somewhere for less" than I applaud you! By all means, take the hunt for this item elsewhere if you can. I know the Die-Hard Tomb Raider fans like myself would jump at the chance to be able to either actually USE or mount this piece on their walls.It took every ounce of my self restraint NOT to take it out of it's box and use it when I went climbing or hiking. Part of me hopes whoever does buy it actually puts it to use. It is an incredible tool (the weight and sturdiness are amazing!) and should not be resound to a life on someone's wall or packed away in a box.Having said all of that, since I do not want to sell it in the first place, but am in the situation that I am in, the price will reflect just how rare this particular item has become.PM me if you have any questions, and either Happy Bidding! or Good Luck in your continued search for a more affordable version of this piece.
