Vintage - Unworn Asolo Sport Backpacking Mountaineering Boots – Mens 10 / Womens 11 • Photos are of the actual boots, not stock photos. The lighter color in photos 7-10 are what the boots look like. The lighting changed when I was taking the photos. INSOLE WITH TOES PRESSED FLAT: Length - 11-3/16 inches (284 mm) Width - 3-3/4 inches (95 mm) Do compare these measurements with those of the insoles from a pair of boots that you know fit your feet. • List Price: $260 - a long time ago • These "vintage" Asolo Sport backpacking / mountaineering boots look like they've never been used, other than sitting in a closet. They are seriously stiff, both the sole and the toe box. You can have the pleasure of breaking them in. Keep in mind the need to break them in when you try them on initially. These are serious, old school mountaineering boots and break in is best done in stages. The boots won't care, but your feet will. Check the fit by seeing if you have enough room to move your toes, but realize that walking in them is going to be a pain if done to excess during the break in period. Also, they will loosen during that process and if necessary a good cobbler can stretch them to some extent. Back in the day some people swore that the best way to break in a pair of new boots was to go stand in a stream for 10 minutes until they were good and wet, and then start walking. My usual "You Like 'Em Guarantee" applies (see the bottom of the listing), but realize that you will not be able to break them in the one day I give you to wear them inside. But you should be able to tell if they'll fit. when broken in. These were purportedly womens size 11, though there is no sizing information on or in the boots. However, the insoles from a pair of Lowa Zephyrs mens size 10 fit these old Asolos, which would be consistent with a mens size 10 and womens size 11. The measurements from those insoles are: INSOLE WITH TOES PRESSED FLAT: Length - 11-3/16 inches (284 mm) Width - 3-3/4 inches (95 mm) Do compare these measurements with those of the insoles from a pair of boots that you know fit your feet. OVERALL HEIGHT: 7-1/2". SOLES: Vibram Rocciablock, made in Italy. Clean and shiny, do not appear to ever have been worn outside and if worn inside the floor was very clean. INSOLES: You'll need to get your own. Or you can be authentic and use a piece of felt. Use the in soles from another pair of boots that fits when you try them on for size. UPPERS: Clean, no dirt, no scuffs, no creases, appear unworn, unused, except for where they've been laced. Never treated or waterproofed. I suggest an initial treatment with Lowa Active Cream or NikWax, though if you want to be authentic there's always Hubbards, Snow Seal, or similar disgusting substances that always reminded me of lard when I used them. The uppers are attached to the mid-soles with a classic Norwegion double stitch. Seam is in the rear where the upper is sewn partially over and joined to the very stiff and solid heel counter. CLOSURE: Lacing: 4 sets of D-Rings (single rivet attachment) and 4 sets of Hooks (double rivet attachment). One-piece rough out leather uppers with a hinged cover over the padded bellows tongue. COLLARS: Leather, unscratched, unworn, clean, padded. INTERIORS: Suede, clean, unworn. LACES: Clean and unfrayed. They look to me to be the original classic red laces, but who knows? • These do not have insoles. • Actual weight: 4 lbs 8 oz (2040 gm) • International shipping: I will ship internationally, but I must have your postal code to give you a quote on the shipping. • Local Pickup: I’m on south Whidbey Island, floating in Puget Sound north of Seattle, about 10-15 minutes from the Clinton ferry terminal. If you are serious I can possibly meet you at the Clinton ferry terminal. That way, you can leave your vehicle and walk on the boat (about $5 for the round trip) and save on shipping. ***** YOU LIKE ‘EM GUARANTEE: Save the box they came in. Wear them around the house or somewhere else indoors for a day. If you decide you don’t want them for any reason, email me (via Ebay's"contact seller system) right away. You’ve got the day they are delivered and one more day to let me know you want to return them. Yes, I know that hiking 10 miles with a loaded pack or at least splashing through puddles are more valid tests, but if you want to be able to return them you’ll just have to restrain yourself and make do with wearing them indoors. Once you let me know that you want to send them back, I will send you instructions for starting an Ebay return and send you a prepaid postage label to print out. Re-pack them in the box they came in, print the prepaid postage label and tape it on the box. Once I receive the returned boots I will refund your purchase price with initial shipping in full. Yes, if you decide that you do not want them I will eat all of the shipping costs.
