This Katadyn water filter has only purified about 50 gallons of water. The silver-embedded ceramic cartridge is designed to purify water from cloudy sources. It will filter out Giardia, amoebic and Shigella dysenteries, typhoid, cholera, larger parasites, and many other micro-organisms. With its built in pump, you can purify 1 quart of water per minute.The manufacturer estimates that the filter will purify 2,000 gallons of water. In addition, they supply a blue colored measuring tool, which indicates the amount of wear on the filter's ceramic cartridge. Mine has virtually no visible wear, given that I only purified about 50 gallons of water.This device weighs 23 ounces and is 10" long X 2" diameter. It's constructed from very high grade stainless steel, ceramic, and surgical tubing. I have followed all of Katadyn's cleaning instructions meticulously. The filter barely shows any signs of use. It is free from contamination and will last for many years of filtration with heavy use. This was one of Katadyn's legendary products and is superior to most portable devices that are marketed today.
I have all original parts and owners manuals, which are depicted. This item is in excellent physical and working condition.
